About
I am a South African born photographer and film director who moved to New York in the mid-nineteen eighties. My work has appeared in Elle, Gourmet, House & Garden, Travel & Leisure, The World of Interiors and Reserved Magazine. I am recognized for the striking directness and intimacy of my photographs and short movies, and for my ability to communicate beauty. I move easily from studio to location and my characteristic narrative style is sought by a wide range of clients including Langham Hotel Group, The Four Seasons, Nordstrom, J Jill, Neiman Marcus and LL Bean, who come to me for my sensuous, sophisticated and free spirited videos and images of people and places.
I have also photographed five award-winning books on chefs and restaurants that include ‘Chefs Night Out’, ‘Dining Out’, ‘Becoming a Chef’ and ‘The New American Chefs’ by Andrew Dorenberg and Karen Page. My lifestyle portraits of Adam Tihany appear in the designer’s monograph. Adam and I have collaborated on artwork for hotel and restaurant projects in Prague, Milan, Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi.
I do not have a big ego, and have always really enjoyed creative collaboration.
I currently live in Manhattan and love the earth-connecting satisfaction of working with my bare hands in my wonderful and prolific roof top farm.
